Reed quintet
I initially sketched the musical material for and if ever in a choir setting, but it didn’t make it into the final version. I revisited the material for a second piece later on, but once again it felt like I was forcing the music onto a piece. I returned to the initial sketches a third time when writing the reed quintet, and the music finally felt at home. The title is a reflection of the musical material’s journey and the sense of longing in the reaching and woven lines of the piece.
